Celebrity sightings in New York are nothing new, but on Wednesday, something a little bit special happened: Madonna was spotted on the subway. Yes, the Material Girl mingled with the common folk on the F train.

Madonna, who was accompanied by two men and a woman on the excursion, allowed her picture to be taken, saying, "I don't mind you taking my photo, but be discreet," according to the New York Post.

On the same day, Madonna's daughter Lourdes began her first day of school in New York, at the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
