U2 pays tribute to Clarence Clemons

U2 frontman Bono payed tribute to E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons at U2's Saturday concert in Anaheim, Calif. "I want you to think about the beautiful symphonic sound that came out of one man's saxophone. I want you to think about Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, brothers. I want you to think of Clarence Clemons," Bono said before launching into "Moment of Surrender." He continued, "This man just carried music, and music carried him, until this day."

Clemons, 69, suffered a stroke on June 12, and died at his Florida home on June 18. Above, you can watch the tribute.

This man will be forever missed. There is a hole in my heart, for him. I will forever miss you, my brother.

The passing of the Big Man leaves me heart broken. This changes everything I know and love about rock and roll. The first time I saw Bruce and the E Street Band was 1973 in Phoenix, AZ, they were the opening act for Wendy Waldman (she never had a chance after them). They rocked the place and Clarence climbed into my heart that night along with Bruce and the rest of them. I have seen them about 15 times, flying around to different venues in the southwest. I don't see how they can go on without him. It was tough enough after Danny Federici died in 2008, but the Big Man? It's never going to be the same. I hope his family and the band can find comfort in knowing how loved he was, worldwide. Too many tears today but nothing but sweet memories of Clarence!

Music unites us, and this was shown once again, by this lovely tribute by Bono and U2 - my other favorite band. How lucky I have been to have seen the E Street Band with Clarence Clemons so many times that I have actually lost count.

My heart goes out to his family, and his bandmates. The world is a better place - a more hamonius place, because of THE BIG MAN.

I'm sad to hear Clarence passed after his stroke last week. You were the best part of the E Street band, Mr. Clemons.

And shame on MSNBC. I see news of the jackass guy all over your pages, but I had to search for this news after I heard it from a guy at work? Second rate and shoddy.

Oh, yeah... "Bono payed tribute"?? The word is spelled P.A.I.D. Sheesh.

You are being a little unfair to MSNBC Dolphinfree as they did have news of Clarence Clemons on the front page on Saturday and Sunday and were one of the first outlets to have it.

MSNBC.com is where I learned that Clemons was in hospital having suffered a stroke last week. Later, when he passed, MSNBC.com was the first outlet that reported it and had it in large headlines on their home page over the weekend, with links to videos reporting on his biography and paying tribute to him. Maybe if you did a little more reading you would not have had to learn of Clemons' death "from a guy at work". Keep your negativity to yourself. Your comment was really a downer.

What can I say? If Bruce is the heart of the E Street Band, Clarence Clemons was its soul. Looking at the "Born To Run" album jacket and wistfully remembering better days.

Big Man, we will miss you!

I shot this video, and it's gone completely nutty all over the web. 75K views in 2 days. I had no idea that it would be on all these sites!

NBC asked me if they could use it in the Clemons tribute that Brian Williams did on Monday Nights telecast, but it was cut...
