ROTFL, Eminem is not even close to being the King of Hip-Hop. He's not even a hip-hop artist, he's a rapper and pop rapper at that. Jay-Z has had 11 consecutive #1 Albums. How many has Eminem had? Really, how many rappers has Eminem inspired? How many have tried to patern their career off his? Eminem is a product of American culture, he sells records because MTV pushes him in your face constantly. MTV does that because he's white and MTV's viewing audience is primarily white. I understand that, but the notion that the majority of caucasian America has anything relevant to add to a conversation about hip-hip culture is laughable. What trend has Eminem ever set? What terminology has he coined? He makes angry records because that's what he makes, he insults other artists, because that's all the material he has. His first two albums were good, and he's been making crap ever since. But just like Brittney Spears (whom he hates), he sells because he has a very manufactured image. He's a talented rapper, but hardly a true hip hop artist.

the reason,

You're wack man! Get off of Jay-z's nuts, you homo....For a white boy, Eminem has mad skills. I like Jay z too, but EM has so many styles to choose from, it makes him that much more better than the rest. Oh, and you're a racist black man, anyone can figure that out.

I don't think Jay-Z can even hold a candle to eminem's creativity, his plethora of styles, the way he manipulates words, speed, and tenacity.

Jay-Z is more of a business man who knew how to sell himself.. and as you can see from some of these ignorant comments, it worked. BTW, Jay-Z and Kanye's new CD is terrible. Doesn't come CLOSE to Eminem and Royce da 5'9"'s

I agree that Eminem has crazy skill and creativity. A real raptologist and give him that respect. But lets ask the founders of hip-hop that question. Hip Hop is about the origin, the times, the beat and being able to connect the public with real experiences was the birth of hip-hop. Enough said..."Jay Z" wears the current belt! Eminem is a very close second on skills alone. Try this...Remove the lyrics and feel the music. Where does it take you? If it takes you to the past...your curiosity is peaked. The lyrics connect the past to the present. Listen to the current styles and try to make the connection. If you can't...they are not worthy of the crown but totally recognized as a hip-hop artist. I feel em all!

I see what you're saying Just G, but times change and so does music. Music has always evolved and progressed with the times, regardless of the genre. This is for "Today's Hip Hop King," which, according to the tests/studies they conducted, is from 2009-the present. I'm sure if the contest was for whomever exemplify's the rapping style or themes of the likes of Biggy or Pac then it would be Jay-Z. But not all rap is the same and not all rap deals with the subjects that you talked about. I think overall, as far as skill and dominance goes, today's rap king truly is Eminem... which is also backed up by the empirical data.

Yet, you want to try to condemn me and my statement because you obviously know so much about hip hop and MCing. Oh please Guy Fawkes reference name, please convey why my statement somehow mistreats these unknown idiots. Also, don't worry about my IQ. It's you who must prove your intelligence to the world wide web now. So please, please make a rebuttal.

I "obviously know so much about hip hop and MCing?" Well that's an awfully opinionated statement, but thank you! And I was doing no condemning smart guy, I was pointing out the flaw of your statement which you felt so opinionated about that you started calling others who enjoy Eminem over whomever you like the best idiots. Now I don't know if you're aware of this, but liking one music artist over another is not based on any fact or objective figure, it's all one's opinion and is comletely subjective. So, using the rational tool that we as humans have been blessed with, can you try and connect the dots on how your statement "mistreats those unknown idiots."

My question is how did you muster the intellectual capacity to put those words together to form a sentence that conveys such a powerful statement!? "If you voted for Eminem, you're an idiot and your hip hop card has been official revoked. Step up your hip hop IQ first and maybe it will be reinstated." Oh grand master of the "hip hop card" please find it in your infinite wisdom to somehow reinstate my hip hop card!

I think any music that glorifies those sorts of things can be traced back to the lack of morale in this country. I've heard each and every one of these guys and while I respect their ability to link words together, I feel they have had an overall negative impact on society.

cRap/S*it hop is talentless garbage. Its not "music" for one. Second its nothing more than cartoonish braggadocio that is hardly legible and severely simplistic. How anyone can find this sort of drum machine verbal diarrhea inspiring, classic or talented is beyond me. Money, ho's, rims, jewelry and fake homage to criminality over a sampled loop and drum machine by some talentless hack who no one will remember in five years.

Music noun - an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

Hate to break it to you, but rap definitely hits those elements my man. Nice try though! Also, maybe you've never come accross the concept of a 'generalization' or a 'blanket statement,' but basically what you're doing is probably singling out one form of hip hop that is a lot more simple and reliant on drum machines and big producing like Waka Flaka or whatever else has taken over the mainstream radio stations. However, rap/hip hop actually has a plethora of styles, types, and purposes. For instance, the Beastie Boys are a whole lot different than Jedi Mind Tricks or Lil' Wayne is different from Will Smith. Are you catching on yet?

You must be a better attorney than me, and I would gladly give you my job and take all of my responsibilities. "Eminem" does Pop better than all these so called brothers - but Michael Jackson dead or alive is still the so-called King of Pop - his music doesn't die - And Jackson never touched RAP the filthy crap. All these brothers are Eminem wannabes (they want to be). Just like no black brother ever sang or did anything as good as Elvis "The King of Rock & Roll) he may have copied but he copied all - and bettered all (put it all together in a marketable package) - just like Michael, and Eminem have done more recently in their own way. Eminem is top's in POP - the brothers have to get over the butt kicking they are getting in something like RAP that they supposedly invented (Will Smith's RAP about his Mother was and is first ever Grammy Awarded in RAP).

He played to the white sympathy and made millions. Em says the same things in his music everybody else says. He's white trash and he admits that. The trailer park and evrything else that comes with it. There seems to be a disconnection in the united states. You see some whites really seem to think that there is a difference between the trailer park, and the ghetto. Here's the hard truth. It's one of the same. IN the park, you might make it to the 9th grade, the hood you made it to the tenth. Same violence, same drug usage and selling. Oh its meth in the park, and crack in the hood. I find it disturbing that most of you choose a man who said to the world that he wanted to sex his mom. I guess that makes him a real Muther******!

Why is it that rappers are usually the ones getting murdered, and not concert pianists, symphony conductors, jazz artists, folk singers, blues artists, etc.?

Could it be that rap breeds violence?

False analogy fallacy. Just because they all of those examples are music doesn't mean you can accurately compare them all. They are all rooted in different social, economic, and chronological periods.

Is it frustrating that somebody who listens to rap music keeps shutting down your useless and desperate attempts to demonize and patronize rap and those whom choose to listen to rap?

Just kidding, I don't know anything about you... but that's seriously funny that you're sitting on your computer arguing with people on the internet with a horde of fallacies at your disposal and you're calling someone who just owned another with logic nerd... ever heard of the word "irony?"

5th I'm just gonna keep taking your arguments over for you if you don't mind. They're too easy and fun! Don't worry, I have a feeling I'll get tired of these chumps and move along though...

Yeah. You never see the news where a clarinet player holds up a 7-11 or a cellist kills a couple of his "homies."

Hey have you guys ever heard of research? here is a list of NON-rappers that have committed murder against their "homies."

"http//rateyourmusicDOTcom/list/Benimal/convicted_of_murder" (take the "DOT" out and put a "." in and put a colon (:) in between the "http" and the "//")

Wow. That's some fantastic research you have there, pal.

Help me out here. Which gangs in the United States prefer something other than rap music? What percent of gangs would you say have rap music as their music of choice? What message is there in rap that appeals to gangs?

                                                #20.3 - Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:20 PM EDT

Well first, thanks for complimenting me on my research. I knew it'd pretty easy to find something that would prove your ill-informed "point" false.

And what music do the Italian gangsters and mobs of the 30s-present prefer? What do Russian gangsters listen to? Are you that narrow-minded that you think all gangs are listening to rap? Do you even know how many different kinds of rap and rappers there are? By the way, beautiful useage of a wide array of faulty generalization fallacies to try and "prove" your "point."

                                                Honestly, how old are you?

Hey 5th of November, so you know how to Google and research information on Wikipedia. What do you want a cookie?!?! You're failing all around here dork!

                                                    #20.5 - Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:17 PM EDT

I ask, "Which gangs in the United States prefer something other than rap and you mention Russian gangsters. You also mention Italian gangsters and mobs from the 30's till the present. When, exactly, was rap available as a CHOICE of music from that time period of "30's till present" that you mentioned? Hard to choose something that doesn't exist, yet, huh?

You must be a poor reader. I never said "ALL" gangs listen to rap. Actually, I called you out, since you're such an expert, and asked YOU what percentage of gangs listen to rap.

I bet your house isn't cluttered with debating trophies.

Yes, they are gangs in the United States, or do you think that just because their heritage comes from Italy and Russia, for example, that they must also live there and nowhere else? Because if that's the case, then I don't even know how you figured out how to turn your computer on. And when was rap present from the 30s-present? Can't you use that simple google/wikipedia search function that apparently is soooo easy to use? You asked about gangs that didn't listen to rap and those two examples easily answer that.

What percentage of gangs listen to rap? How can one even conduct that study smart guy? Do you go around asking people's occupations and the music they listen to? And then how do you get someone to identify their occupation as "gang member?" And then ask them what their favorite music is? You are the one who made the claim that "gang members only listen to rap" so therefore the burden of proof is on your end. Or do you not know how a debate/argument works?

Come on man, if you just pull your head out a little bit you might get some more oxygen to your brain and then you can think a little more clearly again.

[a]proxy you're not my biggest fan, are you? I'm just gettin notificaions like crazy from you!

If google/wikipedia searching is so easy, then why can't more people (ahem) utilize it?

                                                      seriously, how old are you?
