Brad Pitt says he learned lesson from Aniston fallout

    By Courtney Hazlett

By now, the following quote is probably familiar: "I spent the '90s trying to hide out ... It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."

Those are words spoken from the mouth of Brad Pitt, words that sent team Aniston into a tizzy when they were printed in Parade magazine. On TODAY to promote his new film "Moneyball," Pitt continued to explain his intentions regarding what he said.

"She's good people.  She, you know, there, there should be a statute of limitations on this," Pitt told Matt Lauer.

Lauer offered to read back the Parade quote, but Pitt declined. "No, I, you know, please don't read it ... Because I don't read these things, by choice, I don't. I don't wanna be encumbered by any of that," Pitt said. "I know my intentions, and I know what I believe, and I know things get misconstrued. I live outside of, of that, and it's much healthier."

Pitt said that he did learn a lesson from the experience: "Don't talk. I don't wanna live on guard and I should be more on guard, I guess ... it's always been a part of the territory. I've got a knack for stepping into s---. And it's OK. It's alright.

Brad Pitt on TODAY: Aniston 'a dear friend of mine'

    By Courtney Hazlett

Although Brad Pitt has "Moneyball," one of his most-buzzed about films in recent memory set to release, comments he made to Parade magazine involving his ex Jennifer Aniston remain top of mind.

Pitt spoke to Matt Lauer in an interview to air Thursday on TODAY, and clarified some of those remarks, saying that his point was lost in the controversy. "I don't know what was pieced together or put together. All I know is that my point was, the best thing I'd done as a father is be sure that my kids have a good mother," Pitt said. "That's all I was, or am, trying to say. It has no reference to the past. And I think it's a shame that I can't say something nice about Angie without Jen being drug in. You know, she doesn't deserve it."

Pitt told Lauer that although he chooses to "live outside all that," i.e., the rumors that constantly swirl around his relationships with current partner Angelina Jolie or Aniston, he had to attempt to clarify what he meant to say. "I don't want them to say anything bad like that about Jen. She's a dear friend of mine," he said, adding that Aniston did not reach out to him after the Parade quotes were published.

But back to the driving force behind Pitt's interview: "Moneyball." Although there's already Oscar talk surrounding the baseball pic, Pitt says he's distancing himself from that for now. "It remains a great piece of material for me that I got to take on. And, we're all -- it's too early to talk about all that other stuff," Pitt told Lauer. "It's all good fun if your number comes up, and it's even more fun when your friend's number comes up."

Tune in Thursday for the complete interview on TODAY.

Pitt wasn't leading 'interesting life' with Aniston

    By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were only married for five years, but their marriage still seems to find its way into headlines and tabloids. (Update: Pitt issues statement to explain comments.)

    Mark Blinch / Reuters

Brad Pitt on Angelina Jolie: "I'm so happy to have her."

Now it's Pitt himself who's dredging up those memories, in an interview that will appear in Sunday's PARADE magazine. According to the actor, his marriage to Aniston had its problems, and at first he wouldn't allow himself to admit that.

"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself," he tells the magazine. "I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."

Pitt, whose latest film, "Moneyball," opens Sept. 23, is much happier now, he says, praising partner Angelina Jolie. "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom," he says. "She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.”

Pitt also discusses the numerous rumors that keep the couple and their kids in the spotlight, why they adopted foreign-born children, and how he got the scar he bears on his cheekbone. We're guessing it wasn't put there by a swinging purse belonging to a faithful member of Team Aniston, but will have to pick up PARADE to verify that. For now, there are additional excerpts from the interview at parade.com.

Matt Damon says Pitt and Jolie are 'like prisoners'

    EPA file

Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, left, and Brad Pitt with Angelina Jolie.

    By Courtney Hazlett

It's no secret that Matt Damon keeps company with some pretty famous friends -- Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Brad Pitt among them. But unlike the others (and especially in the case of Pitt), Damon is able to maintain a fairly normal life.

"I have friends who are like prisoners. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for instance," Damon told German television TELE 5 (via PEOPLE) over the weekend. "They can't just go someplace. If they go for a walk, it turns into an international incident."

Damon, on the other hand, has it sort of easy. "I'm really lucky, because I have the best of both worlds. I do the work that I love and need, but don't need paramilitary troops to protect me when I walk out my front door."

For Damon, life revolves around family, and that might have something to do with his ability to maintain a low profile. "Ever since I found my wife (Luciana) and we had children, my whole life revolves around that. It gave my life a dramatic change in direction. I'm not as crazy as most of the other stars. I don't really know why, probably because I married a woman who isn't an actress. And we live in New York," he said. "As long as we don't show up in typical tourist spots, we can walk the streets without being noticed. New Yorkers are very cool, they don't flip out if they see me."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to finally marry?

    Us Weekly

    By Courtney Hazlett

Another royal wedding might be in the works: that of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, according to Us Weekly. The magazine is reporting that three separate sources confirm upcoming nuptials that could happen "withing the next few months."

Now, why these sources know something different from the other sources -- the ones that have surfaced every couple weeks for the last several years, claiming the same thing -- I truthfully don't know. I'm in the camp where I'll believe it when I see it. All that said, Pitt did hint that marriage is more likely now than it was when he said that he wouldn't do it again until it was legal for everyone.

"The kids ask about marriage, it's meaning more and more to them," he told USA Today.

The couple, who have six kids, would reportedly tie the knot at their newly renovated home Chateau Miraval in Correns, France, (which happens to have a 16th-century chapel on the grounds) and it would be "intimate and informal," reports Us. In other words, the total opposite of Pitt's million-dollar wedding to Jennifer Aniston in 2000.

At this point, would it make any difference to you if Pitt and Jolie get married? Take our vote.

Sure, the mustache might have never happened if not for his role in "Inglourious Basterds," but there's no clear accounting for the unkempt goatee situation.

Being an on-screen chameleon is part of the job -- the hair gets long, the hair gets short. But who can complain when he's clean-cut? Or, for that matter, when this happens?

So what do you think? The photo at top left is from 2007 during a cleaner-cut phase, and the photo at bottom right is from this past May as his hair again approaches shoulder length.

Does Pitt have a best look, or can he make any amount of scruff look sexy? Take part in our vote.

Scooplets: Brad Pitt's movie booed? Pippa Middleton, more

Pascal Le Segretain / Getty Images

Actor Brad Pitt attends the "The Tree Of Life" press conference during the 64th annual Cannes Film Festival on Monday, May 16 in Cannes, France.

    • One of the most anticipated films at the Cannes Film Festival is "Tree of Life," starring Brad Pitt. Reviews from the first screening are mixed at best, and include the word "boo."

    • The wedding is over but Pippa Middleton remains in the spotlight. She traveled to Madrid with friends over the weekend, but the news here is that she was photographed taking a boat ride with ex-boyfriend George Percy. Quelle scandal!

    • The Oscars are over, so why would "Black Swan" still be in the news? Because the film's international earnings just surpassed the $300 million mark. Not bad for a film with a $13 million budget.

    • Cali Swag District (of "Teach Me How to Dougie" fame) lost its leader, Montae Talbert, known as M-Bone, reportedly of a drive-by shooting. TMZ has the news. In the wake of Talbert's death, more than 13 million people have watched Chris Brown do the "Dougie" on YouTube. You can watch it here.

Jolie's jewelry line to benefit charity, not actress

Gabriel Bouys / AFP - Getty Images

A Robert Procop necklace, part of the "Style of Jolie Exhibition" is seen in Beverly Hills.

Angelina Jolie recently began selling jewelry she co-created with Robert Procop (the emerald earrings she wore at the Golden Globes were part of her line). But don't be mistaken, Jolie isn't profiting from the sales. All proceeds are going to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a charity she co-founded.

Jolie's preferences are "green and yellow gems," Procop told Us Weekly at the collection's display at Julien's Gallery in Beverly Hills. Procop and Jolie have worked together before, on a pendant she designed for Brad Pitt. "She had me laser-engrave a message on the diamond that's impossible to see with the human eye," Procop said. "It was a love letter to Brad."

Angelina Jolie's tattoos spark more adoption rumors

    Libra / Getty Images

Angelina Jolie visits the Choucha refugee camp a few kilometers from the Libyan border in Ras Jdir, Tunisia, on Tuesday.

While in Tunisia on Tuesday, Angelina Jolie not only appealed for international aid for refugees in the area, she also sparked adoption rumors.

As most know, Jolie's left arm is stamped with the longitude and latitude that corresponds with the birthplace of each of her six children. Suddenly, there's a seventh line, which some suggest is a hint that another adoption is in progress.

The numbers are difficult to make out -- some reports say that they correspond to Brad Pitt's birthplace in Oklahoma, and a source tells People not to read too much into it, that adoption rumors are false.

Jolie's manager has yet to comment.

Entire Jolie-Pitt clan makes snack run in New Orleans

    splashnews.com

Yup, that's a rare photo of all six of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's kids together in one shot. The kids, from left, Vivienne, 2, Shiloh, 4, Knox, 2, Zahara, 6, Pax, 7, and Maddox, 9, hit the streets of New Orleans with their parents to make a snack run to Verti market.

The family put down roots in New Orleans in 2007, when Pitt filmed "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and the family has since made several trips back to the city for various projects, including Pitt's Make it Right foundation, which was created to help rebuild New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward neighborhood, post-Hurricane Katrina.

Will Brad and Angelina adopt from Haiti next?

    Reuters file

Angelina Jolie is seen last summer in Tokyo with four of her children, from left, Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been open about their willingness to expand their family beyond the six kids they already have, and now rumors that they'll adopt another child are heating up.

According to UK newspaper The Daily Mirror, Jolie and Pitt last year visited an orphanage in Haiti where they met a 4-year-old girl who'd lost her family in the earthquake there, and they hope to adopt her soon.

If they did adopt the girl, she'd join brothers Maddox, Knox and Pax, and sisters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne. No comment yet from the Jolie-Pitt camp about their plans.

Brad Pitt's company makes multi-million dollar offer to Chilean miners

Even before the recent rescue of the 33 trapped Chilean miners, there was talk of their story being made into a film. So it's no surprise that multiple production companies are trying to get the rights to the story. Among them: Brad Pitt's company, Plan B. A lawyer for the miners told Santiago news outlet El Mercurio that Pitt's company has made a multi-million dollar offer, and that some of the rescued miners would be cast in the film.

According to the report, the miners are fielding an average of 10 proposals per day, and before they accept any offer, want to form a holding company so that proceeds can be equally distributed to all the miners.

Plan B recently produced "Eat, Pray, Love," and "Kick-Ass." Reps for Plan B weren't available for comment.
