Forget the rumors, Aniston isn't desperate for baby

Gareth Cattermole / Getty Images file

    By Courtney Hazlett

When it's not Demi and Ashton taking up space on the tabloid covers, it's often Jennifer Aniston, and her supposed desire to have a baby. The actress has a message about that: don't believe what you read.

Aniston, part of Elle magazine's Women in Hollywood issue, says, "It’s not what you read. There’s no desperation. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. I’m at peace with whatever the plan is."

Aniston has been in a relationship with Justin Theroux, but details of that romance are something she's not willing to talk about. She went on to tell the magazine, "Will you hate me if I say I don’t want to talk about my relationship?"

Brad Pitt says he learned lesson from Aniston fallout

    By Courtney Hazlett

By now, the following quote is probably familiar: "I spent the '90s trying to hide out ... It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."

Those are words spoken from the mouth of Brad Pitt, words that sent team Aniston into a tizzy when they were printed in Parade magazine. On TODAY to promote his new film "Moneyball," Pitt continued to explain his intentions regarding what he said.

"She's good people.  She, you know, there, there should be a statute of limitations on this," Pitt told Matt Lauer.

Lauer offered to read back the Parade quote, but Pitt declined. "No, I, you know, please don't read it ... Because I don't read these things, by choice, I don't. I don't wanna be encumbered by any of that," Pitt said. "I know my intentions, and I know what I believe, and I know things get misconstrued. I live outside of, of that, and it's much healthier."

Pitt said that he did learn a lesson from the experience: "Don't talk. I don't wanna live on guard and I should be more on guard, I guess ... it's always been a part of the territory. I've got a knack for stepping into s---. And it's OK. It's alright.

Brad Pitt on TODAY: Aniston 'a dear friend of mine'

    By Courtney Hazlett

Although Brad Pitt has "Moneyball," one of his most-buzzed about films in recent memory set to release, comments he made to Parade magazine involving his ex Jennifer Aniston remain top of mind.

Pitt spoke to Matt Lauer in an interview to air Thursday on TODAY, and clarified some of those remarks, saying that his point was lost in the controversy. "I don't know what was pieced together or put together. All I know is that my point was, the best thing I'd done as a father is be sure that my kids have a good mother," Pitt said. "That's all I was, or am, trying to say. It has no reference to the past. And I think it's a shame that I can't say something nice about Angie without Jen being drug in. You know, she doesn't deserve it."

Pitt told Lauer that although he chooses to "live outside all that," i.e., the rumors that constantly swirl around his relationships with current partner Angelina Jolie or Aniston, he had to attempt to clarify what he meant to say. "I don't want them to say anything bad like that about Jen. She's a dear friend of mine," he said, adding that Aniston did not reach out to him after the Parade quotes were published.

But back to the driving force behind Pitt's interview: "Moneyball." Although there's already Oscar talk surrounding the baseball pic, Pitt says he's distancing himself from that for now. "It remains a great piece of material for me that I got to take on. And, we're all -- it's too early to talk about all that other stuff," Pitt told Lauer. "It's all good fun if your number comes up, and it's even more fun when your friend's number comes up."

Tune in Thursday for the complete interview on TODAY.

Pitt wasn't leading 'interesting life' with Aniston

    By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were only married for five years, but their marriage still seems to find its way into headlines and tabloids. (Update: Pitt issues statement to explain comments.)

    Mark Blinch / Reuters

Brad Pitt on Angelina Jolie: "I'm so happy to have her."

Now it's Pitt himself who's dredging up those memories, in an interview that will appear in Sunday's PARADE magazine. According to the actor, his marriage to Aniston had its problems, and at first he wouldn't allow himself to admit that.

"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself," he tells the magazine. "I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."

Pitt, whose latest film, "Moneyball," opens Sept. 23, is much happier now, he says, praising partner Angelina Jolie. "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom," he says. "She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.”

Pitt also discusses the numerous rumors that keep the couple and their kids in the spotlight, why they adopted foreign-born children, and how he got the scar he bears on his cheekbone. We're guessing it wasn't put there by a swinging purse belonging to a faithful member of Team Aniston, but will have to pick up PARADE to verify that. For now, there are additional excerpts from the interview at parade.com.

Report: Jennifer Aniston's mom suffers stroke

    Mario Anzuoni / Reuters file

    By Courtney Hazlett

Jennifer Aniston's once-estranged mother Nancy Dow has reportedly suffered a stroke. The Daily Mail reports that 75-year-old Dow was hospitalized in Los Angeles over the weekend, and Aniston "rushed to be by her mother's bedside."

Aniston and Dow were estranged for more than a decade after Dow gave a television interview about their relationship in 1996, and later wrote a book titled, "From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir." The two have since reconciled.

A rep for Aniston has not confirmed that Dow has had a stroke, saying only, "this is a private family matter."

Use of gay slur jibes with Jennifer Aniston's 'Horrible' character

    By Courtney Hazlett

Although the title alone might be enough to indicate there's some horrible behavior in Jennifer Aniston's upcoming film "Horrible Bosses," there's still some surprise over just how reprehensible some of the words and actions in the film might be.

Today's case in point revolves around Aniston's character, Dr. Julie Harris, who is a sex-crazed dentist who goes about her day engaged in various forms of sexual harassment with her assistant Dale (played by Charlie Day). In the course of Dr. Harris' HR-violating day, Aniston at one point taunts Dale, saying, "You're starting to sound like a little f----- there, Dale."

    Warner Bros.

Jennifer Aniston, right, and Charlie Day in a scene from "Horrible Bosses."

Aniston's (or rather her character's) use of "the other F word" has captured the attention of many; among them, Newsweek/Daily Beast writer Ramin Setoodeh, who writes that in today's "climate of heightened sensitivity, a number of celebrities have sworn off the term completely," despite attempts to re-frame it in various ways in the past. In other words, regardless of how pejorative the term may or may not be for any given population, it's just not being used.

The film's co-screenwriter Jonathan Goldstein addresses the controversy, telling Newsweek/The Daily Beast, "I think part of the challenge is to, in a fairly short amount of time, get these guys to a place where an audience can empathize ... To shorthand that, we tried to think: what are the most offensive things they can say? Using a word like that I think is one of them. It says this woman is irredeemable."

If there is any theme here, it does seem to align more closely with creating something irredeemable as opposed to something that's just meant to be abjectly offensive. As Aniston's publicist tells Scoop, "It's clear in the film that the character she plays is a horrendous person and she does many things that are indefensible and offensive to any human being. The film is called 'Horrible Bosses' after all.  The use of the word by her character helps to illustrate her horribleness."

Aniston gets to bottom of going topless

    Jason Merritt / Getty Images

Jennifer Aniston arrives at the premiere of "Horrible Bosses" at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., on Thursday, June 30.

    By Courtney Hazlett

For as long as there has been buzz about Jennifer Aniston's new movie "Horrible Bosses," there's been buzz about Aniston allegedly going topless for a scene in the film. In a move that probably won't sell more tickets when "Bosses" premieres July 8, Aniston is dispelling those rumors.

"I have no idea where those rumors started, but it's a good rumor ... Not true at all," Aniston told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Even though Aniston keeps her clothes on in "Horrible Bosses," she does take another risk by playing the predator in the workplace, a role that's usually kept to the men.

"It's usually the male character in that role," she said. "That's why I thought of her like a guy. Other than that I just stuck to what was in the script. I didn't have any input as to what she said. That was all on the page. And I was tickled and excited. The raunchier, the better ...  I don’t want to play it safe all the time. I wanted to take a risk."

You can watch the trailer for the movie below.

Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell and Kevin Spacey play a trio of terrible bosses that friends Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day conspire to eliminate. Opens July 8.

Aniston talks turn-ons with James Lipton

    Splash News

Jennifer Aniston leaves Pace University in New York after attending "Inside the Actors Studio" on Thursday.

Jennifer Aniston stopped canoodling with new flame Justin Theroux long enough to sit with James Lipton for an "Inside the Actors Studio" interview Thursday.

Theroux was present -- seated in the front row, in fact -- according to People, but the interview was all business. Or at least what passes for business when it comes to Lipton's Proust questionnaire-style of discussion. Before getting to that, Lipton did ask her what drew her to her 2006 film, "The Break-Up." Aniston's response: "Well, you know it's something I have a lot of experience with."

Moving on, Lipton got to the traditional portion of his interview. Below, some of her responses (the full interview will air next month on Bravo).

    What turns you on?
"Generally or currently? ... A great pair of shoes."

    What turns you off?
    "Flats."

    What's your favorite word?
"Norman," (Norman was the name of her beloved corgi-terrier mix, who died in May.)

    What's your least favorite?
    "Stupid."

What sound or noise do you love?
    "A baby hysterically laughing"

    What sound do you hate?
    "Car alarms."

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
"Attempt is a good word ... interior design."

What profession would you not like to have?
    "Be the president."

If heaven existed, what would you like to hear God say to you at the pearly gates?
"Never thought I'd see you here."

No pants, no bra, no problem for Jennifer Aniston in new mag

Like so many celebrities these days, Jennifer Aniston is posing sans pants. The actress, who appears next in "Horrible Bosses" is Marie Claire's latest cover subject, and inside the magazine, she talks not about her rumored topless scene in the movie, but about what she'd be doing if she weren't an actress.

"If I weren't an actor I'd be maybe an interior designer. I love seeing a house and thinking about how it should be redone or restored," she told the magazine. "I spent a lot of time doing my current house, and it's beautiful. It's like a beautiful work of art and I'm proud of it."

Aniston spends most of her time in L.A. But recently spent about $8 million on two apartments in New York, and has plans to renovate those.

Meanwhile, over at Allure, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie was also going pants-free for a photo spread in that magazine. She tells the mag: "I think people think that I'm pregnant sometimes because my weight fluctuates. I gain and lose weight everywhere from the thighs up.

"My problem is my discipline," Fergie said. "I see a Jack in the Box or a DelTaco, and I will impulsively want it. I'm a work in progress in that area."

Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox: still friends!

Alberto Rodriguez / Getty Images file

Despite a smattering of reports claiming that Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox had some sort of falling out, the pair are indeed on good terms.

"I'm definitely not in a fight with Jen," Cox told Life & Style at the Chanel Celebration for our Oceans event in Malibu, Calif. on June 4, putting to rest rumors that Jen was said to be upset that Courteney had been hanging out with her single "Cougar Town" co-stars Brian Van Holt and Josh Hopkins during her trial separation from David Arquette.

The rationale behind allegedly being upset over such a thing requires another leap: that it reminded Jen of the behavior of her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, who started seeing his co-star Angelina Jolie shortly after their split in 2005.

But Cox confirms that the two are still as close as ever.

"I'm so sure I'm not in a fight with Jen, I don't even need to call her and say, 'Are we in a fight?' because I'm positive," Cox told the magazine. "Even if I haven't talked to her all week, I know I'm not in a fight with Jen."

Jennifer Aniston's friends meet her new man

    Jason Decrow / AP file

Actor and writer Justin Theroux at a screening in New York in April.

Jennifer Aniston has yet to confirm that she's dating actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux, but by the looks of things, the new relationship is getting slightly more serious -- she's introduced Theroux to her friends.

People reports that Aniston had a small get together on May 27 that included Chelsea Handler and Courteney Cox, and that's where the gang met Theroux. "They all had a great time and enjoyed Justin's company," a source told the magazine.

Theroux and Aniston met on the set of "Wanderlust," which filmed in Georgia last fall. "They're doing great," the source said. "He's edgier than the guys Jen usually dates. She really likes him."

And here's a random red-carpet interview so you can get to know Theroux a little better:

The show airs Friday, June 10 at 9 p.m. ET. Halle Berry and Charlize Theron are past winners.
