• Snooki gets $32K to talk hair styling at Rutgers

    If your organization had $32,000 on hand to book a speaker, would you use it all on Snooki? That's what the Rutgers University student association did. On Thursday night, the pint-sized "Jersey Shore" star was hired to speak before nearly 1,000 undergraduates, where the topics ranged from hair styling to lessons for life.

    Money for Snooki's appearance came from the mandatory student activity fee.

    Interesting to note, the reality TV star's $32,000 fee is $2,000 more than Rutgers' commencement speaker, Nobel-winning novelist Toni Morrison, will get when she addresses graduates this spring.

    Snooki's parting advice to students: "Study hard, but party harder."

    I'm thinking Morrison might have a different message come May.

    Mike Sorrentino would like you to buy his book -- make that two copies.

    No one expected Mike Sorrentino of MTV's "Jersey Shore" to win any book awards for his tome "Here's the Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades and Getting in Your GTL," but Sorrentino probably hoped for a little more commercial success than the book is getting.

    Life & Style's Scene Queens is reporting that the book has only sold 4,000 copies. "For a high-profile author, 4,000 copies is pretty bad," Jim Milliot of Publisher's Weekly magazine told the Scene Queens. "It's definitely a disappointment to the publishing company [Gotham], which will probably lose money on the deal."

    There's a chance at redemption, though: the publisher says there are still talks taking place for a second book.

    Surprisingly, there's no need for a "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" mantra with at least one "Jersey Shore" cast member.

    Lovable Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola had brunch at Palms Place Sunday morning and a source connected with the restaurant Simon tells Scoop that she was joined by two of her friends, and had a very docile, un-"Jersy Shore" type of experience. Omelets were had, and Sammi even stepped into the kitchen to whip up some cotton candy with chef Kerry Simon.

    By the end of "Jersey Shore: Miami," it seemed that the cast's blood type was Vodka. Not so at Simon, where the meal was alcohol-free. "There was no alcohol. Just ginger ale," said the source.

    After a Fashion's Night Out event on Sept. 10 in New York, Sean "Diddy" Combs reportedly had his eyes set on the sweetheart of "Jersey Shore," Sammi Giancola.

    Life & Style’s Scene Queens spotted Sammi and her friends outside of the event when Diddy pulled up to the curb and reportedly called out to Sammi, "I love Jersey Shore. I've been thinking about you."

    The Scene Queens say that Sammi ignored him, but Diddy didn't give up. "He knew one of the girls Sammi was with," a friend of Sammi's told Scene Queens. "He was texting her friend, begging for Sammi's number."

    The editors at GQ took on a considerable challenge: Strip the men of "Jersey Shore" from their muscle shirts and bling and put them in some respectable gym clothes. But do they really look much different?

But is it possible to scrub away years of the GymTanLaundry mentality in the course of just one photo shoot? I'm thinking not.

    "Gossip Girl" star Michelle Trachtenberg and "Jersey Shore" spark plug Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi clearly have different priorities when it comes to the amount of sun they're getting.

    The uber-pale Trachtenberg was spotted in New York attending a Fashion Week event wearing a dress to match her skin tone. And in Los Angeles, Snooki attended the MTV Video Music Awards looking like she laid out all summer and then walked through a spray tanner on her way down the red carpet.

    Maybe the two television personalities should get together and exchange a light hug. Some of Snooki's bronze tone could smear onto Trachtenberg and even out both appearances.

    When "Jersey Shore" decamped to Miami for the show's second season, some were dubious about whether the Sunshine State could be a place one could get one's creep on. Apparently, those fears were unfounded, and MTV has actually ordered two special episodes to air after the Oct. 21 season finale. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the first will be a cast reunion show to air on Oct. 28, and the second will be a behind-the-scenes special (no date announced for that yet).

    It seems that enough was enough for Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. After months of fights with on-again-off-again boyfriend and housemate Ronnie Magro, the "Jersey Shore" star stormed out and quit the show on Friday, sources say.

    “She ripped off the mic pack at the house after a monster fight with Ronnie and quit,” Sammi’s friend said to Ok! Magazine.

    The volatile relationship between Giancola and Magro has been at the center of the show's second season. Insiders say that the fights still rage on in the upcoming season, which is currently filming at Seaside Heights, N.J. Everything seems to always go back to Magro's infidelity. On recent episodes, the housemates have discovered that he has been (at least) two-timing Giancola. The last blowout, which was caught on tape, was too much to handle for Giancola. “She feels stupid for believing him and he made a fool of her,” the friend said.

    “The door was left open for Sammi to return whenever she wanted, but she said ‘No way, not happening’ and is home,” another insider said.

    Though she was adamant on Friday, the fickle-minded housemate changed her mind. Producers convinced her to return to the show.

    A MTV rep neither denied or confirmed the claims, saying MTV normally doesn't comment on a show while it is still in production.

    The taping of the third season of “Jersey Shore” is under way in Seaside Heights, N.J., and on July 29, Life & Style’s Scene Queens went to Karma nightclub, where the show was filming. The biggest revelation to come out of the experience is that the men of “Jersey Shore” weren’t allowed to interact with just anyone.

    “We saw producers draw black dots on the hands of girls deemed worthy enough to talk to the cast. (They also had to be willing to sign release forms to be on television. Anyone without the mark was strictly off-limits to speak to on camera,” according to the Scene Queens.

    A source close to the show said that the women aren’t the only ones clamoring to get on the show. Guys who were on hand that same night got into it over getting some time in front of a camera.

    “The cast has to be more careful because everyone knows them now,” a source close to the show told the Scene Queens. “Some of the guys, like the Situation, will have four to six security guys with them to stop people from approaching.”

    Sounds dramatic, but the formula is working. “Jersey Shore” season two debuted with 5.3 million viewers.
