Scooplets: New son for Toni Collette, a 'Housewives' star dates Michael Lohan, more

    • Actress Toni Collette and her husband had a son last Friday, in Australia, People confirms. "Toni Collette, her husband David Galafassi and their daughter Sage Galafassi are excited and proud to announce the arrival of their baby boy, Arlo Robert Galafassi," the rep says. "He was born on Good Friday making it the greatest Friday, indeed!"

Randy Quaid sings a song during rehearsal at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, on April 19.

    • Randy and Evi Quaid's exile to Canada, an effort to escape the "star whackers" who have allegedly plagued them, has not been a silent one. They took "A Night with the Quaids" to a Vancouver theater, and Vulture chronicled the randomness.

    • Chew on this: Britney Spears is not to be in the same room with hot dogs, pizza, cookie dough ice cream.

    • While airlines aren't doing much to fix their food problems, they are focusing on their in-flight entertainment issues. Namely, the "issue" of getting glasses-free 3-D technology on planes.

    • At long last, Roger Ebert has finally won a New Yorker caption contest.

    • If it were part of a reality show you might not believe it: "Real Housewives of New Jersey" starKim Granatell and Michael Lohan are dating, and working on a Fort Lauderdale-based teen rehab project together.

'Real Housewives' Kim and Kyle Richard still have not made peace

After one of the landmark fights in "Real Housewives" franchise history, Kyle and Kim Richards (of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills") are opening up about what the experience was really like. "It's the biggest conflict and drama I think we've ever had," Kim told Life & Style. "I don't like conflict."

The fallout from the fight involved Kim being coerced into going to rehab, but she checked out after just a week.

There's still not total peace between the sisters. "Things aren’t 100 percent OK between them,” a production insider told Life & Style. “People don’t know what the family has been through.”

“None of us wanted all this drama,” Kyle tells Life & Style. “I knew I was taking a risk by doing the show with Kim — because we do clash and because I’m the type of person who says what I feel.”

And if season one of the series marked the downfall of Kim and Kyle’s relationship, season two could be about its rebirth. “I would do another season with Kim,” Kyle said. “I just don’t want it to consume me like that again.”

Rumors of Salahi's demise are greatly exaggerated

    Neilson Barnard/Getty Images file

Michaele Salahi, everyone's favorite alleged White House party crasher, has not been un-invited from "The Real Housewives of D.C."

Earlier reports claim that Half Yard Productions, a Bravo subcontractor, is hunting for a "bitchy" replacement for her after Bravo became annoyed with Michaele and Tareq Salahi for their behavior on and off screen. However, it's not true (not to mention, reprehensible behavior has hardly ever been a dealbreaker on reality TV).

"With this particular series, they are not casting," said a Bravo rep. "There's not even been a discussion yet about season two, let alone casting decisions. The reports are preposterous."

Bravo denies contract muzzles Salahis on White House incident

    Neilson Barnard/Getty Images

Michaele Salahi, left, and her husband Tareq Salahi visit "FOX & Friends" at the FOX studios in New York on Wednesday.

A book about "Real Housewives of D.C." couple Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the couple better known as the "White House Party Crashers," is out. In a press release to announce the book, "Cirque du Salahi," it's explained that details about the Salahi's night at the White House have been scant because "a network," presumably Bravo, would not allow them to explain what happened.

"On attorney’s advice, and because of their 'iron-clad' contracts with a television network, the Salahis felt they could not defend themselves -- not even when called before a committee of the United States Congress," reads the press release. The Salahis also used the alleged "iron-clad" contract excuse on FOX when the White House incident was brought up.

According to reps at Bravo, there was nothing in their contracts that would have prevented the Salahis from speaking freely about the White House incident.

"The notion that the Salahis have been barred under their contracts relating to 'The Real Housewives of D.C.' from speaking about their attendance at the White House State Dinner is simply not true. From the time of the incident until now, Bravo and Half Yard Productions, the producer of the series, have consistently and repeatedly stated to the Salahis and their representatives that they were free to speak to press, law enforcement, Congress and anyone else about attending the State Dinner. Indeed, they have given multiple press interviews on that very subject," according to a Bravo rep.

Manzo testifies that Staub depicted ex as 'monster'

    Michael N. Todaro/Getty Images

Caroline Manzo of "Real Housewives of New Jersey."

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" matriarch Caroline Manzo has been brought into the ongoing legal battle between former cast member Danielle Staub and her ex-husband Kevin Maher. Maher, who wrote "Cop Without a Badge," the book that was the catalyst for the table-flipping finale of the 2009 season, is suing Staub for defamation. Just how did Manzo get involved? The short story is this: Maher claims that Staub defamed him by spreading stories about Maher repeatedly raping her and killing her dog. Staub has denied spreading such stories and filed a motion to get the whole lawsuit dismissed, arguing that if she did tell such tales there was no evidence of it.

But, Manzo was deposed on Maher's behalf, and according to transcripts of the deposition obtained by RadarOnline.com, Manzo recounts those stories which Staub claims she never told. In one example from the transcript:

"She depicted him as a monster. She depicted him as someone who would beat her daily, as someone that put her in the hospital due to the beatings, I want to say on more than one occasion. She told a story about being raped on broken glass. One incident, she said that he shot her dog. And then another incident she claimed that he hanged her dog. I'm confused as to whether this all was at the same moment of the rape on the glass ..."

Manzo also said that Staub "claimed to have been hiding in a tree at some point, afraid that when he came home he would find her and beat her. She claimed to be the victim of prostitution due to his demands, that he put her into that world, again depicting him as an absolute monster."

Staub and Maher attempted mediation on July 22 but no progress on the case was made. Their next court date is Sept. 27.

    Housewife's ring really was 'fugazi'

When the 10th wedding anniversary of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” couple Teresa and Joe Guidice rolled around, Joe was seen on the show, joking about giving his wife with a ring that was “fugazi” (Italian slang for fake). As it turns out, the yellow diamond ring he ended up giving Teresa to celebrate their decade together was a fake. “It’s not real,” Teresa said on “The View” on Monday. “I love costume jewelry.”

The Guidices filed for bankruptcy last fall, and Teresa said on “The View” that initially Joe kept their dire financial situation from her, but regardless, she wasn’t living beyond her means, and now she’s watching her finances by not using credit cards. “I am not jet-setting. I don’t have gold toilets,” she said. “I watch my money.

‘Real Housewives of D.C.’ will be ‘intellectual’

If you’re hoping to see fistfights and hands full of hair extensions on “The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C.,” when it premieres Aug. 5, you might be disappointed.

“In D.C., people are focused more on achievement than fame,” housewife Stacie Scott Turner, a real estate agent and philanthropist told TODAYshow.com during a phone conference call. “It’s an intellectual capital.”

That doesn’t mean the show won’t have its fair share of scandal — White House party crasher Michaele Salahi is also part of the show, after all. “I was just shocked that anybody would have the gall to crash a party like that,” Turner said.

However, the Salahi incident is only “one small snippet” of the show, according to another cast member, Mary Schmidt Amons. "We have some really important, provocative, substantive conversations about political issues," Turner said.
